Old Market House
This model in 1/43 started life as "The Old French House" an incredibly beautiful stone and half timbered building in southern France. Only the front elevation was avilable in part image as a guide, neither side, roof or rear being shown. So the original concept was abandoned and it was decided to make a larger model out of the information on hand. Some years ago, I visited Castle Carey in the West Country and was aken aback by their magnificant Market House in the centre of the town. Needles to say pictures were taken and have been in the archive waiting for this moment to arrive. Extensive artistic licence has been used, arches have replaced columns and I simplified the detail behind the arches. I saw this as an opportunity to offer an opportunity for a medival market scene or as a part vilage scape for a GW Railway.
